My passion for food began when I started cooking as a little girl growing up in San German, Puerto Rico. My mother worked, and I had a baby-sitter who showed me how to cook, and pick herbs and vegetables straight out of the garden. I also learned about life on a farm, and saw where great ingredients came from.
A product of both Puerto Rican and African-American heritage, I spent summers on the Lower East Side of New York City where I learned the basics of Cuchifrito and Soul Food cooking. My love for Latin Soul cuisine was born-- the best of both worlds!
Cooking was so fun and satisfying that as I got older I began cooking for my friends and family, and hosting elaborate dinner parties. In 2004, I really started to hone in on my talent. I spent some time in culinary school learning new techniques and trying different recipes—I’ve even created some of my own!
I worked in the corporate world for over eight years, and even though my time there was invaluable, I wanted to be more creative. In 2009, I began my own business. I worked a full-time job, and catered small parties on the weekends. I did all of the shopping and cooking myself, and still do. I shop for quality and fresh ingredients in order to provide my clients with a quality product.
